Senior SDET Python/Data

We are looking for a Senior SDET with strong Python, data validation, and quality engineering skills to test data pipelines and analytics workflows on cloud platforms. Experience in data engineering, automation testing, and regulated industries is a plus. This is a remote, full-time position with compensation in USD, requiring English fluency (B2+ level or above) to collaborate effectively with international teams.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or SDET roles.
  • Advanced/ Fluent English.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes/testing, and BI tools.
  • Hands-on experience with data validation techniques and tools.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python scripting.
  • Solid understanding of testing strategies, version control, and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Insurance industry experience is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in technical environments.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of data pipelines, Power BI, and Tableau.
  • Experience with Databricks and cloud environments (e.g., Azure).
  • Familiarity with automation testing frameworks.
  • Understanding of data governance and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop end-to-end dbt testing (mocked and expected data from bronze to gold layer).
  • Understand and work within the Hiscox tech stack: VSCode, pytest, dbt, Databricks, Git, Docker.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define testing needs and communicate effectively with Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers.
  • Analyze engineering and analytics requirements to define testing scope and strategy.
  • Define and maintain dbt models, unit tests, end-to-end tests, and custom test cases.
  • Investigate failed tests, review pull requests, and actively participate in Agile ceremonies.
